Register contains numerous listings of newly organized regiments (i.e., 72d-133d Infantry, 14th-18th Cavalry, 7th Artillery) and colonels commanding them. Some lists note colonel's name and the counties regiment was organized from; others note regiment status (e.g., mustered; equipped with arms and uniforms or paid; transportation orders); troop strength; surgeons and chaplain assigned to regiment; and whether lists (i.e., muster rolls; descriptive books; monthly returns; casuality; enrollment) received from regiment. Register also contains a list of tender, tender date, and occasional notes on response to tender (i.e., authorization; orders issued). Rough penciled notes on regimental strength and officers appear throughout the register.
